VoluntarItaly is the program handled by the Society Dante Alighieri of Michigan that offers the opportunity to young volunteers (aged 18-25) to be in Italy.
As in previous editions, volunteers will have the unique opportunity to participate in a three-week program in Italy, working alongside counselors in Lombardy’s oratories on educational and recreational activities (they will not be teaching English to children) while improving their Italian language skills.
Here are the key details:
- Program dates: Arrival in Milan (Malpensa), Lombardy, on June 7, 2025. Mandatory orientation on June 8, 2025, with the program running from June 9 to June 28, 2025.
- Meals and lodging included in a family setting: The parishes can host a minimum of 15 volunteers (below this number we may have to cancel the program, so make sure you tell your students not to wait until the last minute).
- Airfare: The cost is the responsibility of the participant.
- Important deadlines:
- Application and two recommendation letters: Due by February 28, 2025 by 6:00 PM EST

- Acceptance confirmation: Emails will be sent by March 30, 2025, by 6:00 PM EST

- Zoom interview: Language proficiency assessment (Novice High/Intermediate Mid or above, ACTFL). The assessment will be done as soon as the student’s application has been approved.

- Signed contract, plane ticket, and ETIAS: Submission by April 15, 2025 by 6:00 PM EST
