Exchange Program between “Padua Franciscan High School”, Ohio, and “Liceo Classico, Linguistico Carlo Alberto” of Novara, Italy

On October 2, 2024, an international cooperation agreement was signed between Liceo Classico / Linguistico “Carlo Alberto” of Novara and “Padua Franciscan High School in Parma, Ohio.

The Meeting, held online, was presided over by the Consul of Italy in Detroit, Allegra Baistrocchi, in attendance were Dr. Marina Lenza, Director of the Education Office of Consulate Detroit, a representation of students, the Principals of the two schools, the President of the “Padua Franciscan High School,” Dr Corsetti, Executive Director of the Noi Foundation, the Italian language teachers of the “Padua Franciscan School,” Prof. Claudia Capuano, and of the “Carlo Alberto” High School, Prof. Marianna Marino and Ilaria Dominici, promoters of the project, in collaboration with the Detroit Consulate School Office and with the support of the Ebano Group.

In fact, Dr. Carlo Robiglio, President & CEO, of Ebano S.p.A, to whom our thanks go for encouraging and supporting this project, facilitating the contact between the Consulate and the Carlo Alberto High School and the Franciscan School of Padua, participated in the Program Launching and Signing Ceremony. Our collaboration began in 2022, on the occasion of PMI Day, when Gruppo Ebano offered students from the Italian Program a presentation of the Company.  We express our gratitude to President Robiglio for supporting the promotion of Italian language and culture in the Detroit Consular District.

For the students it was an educational experience of human and cultural growth. Specifically, sixteen students from the second-year classes of Liceo Carlo Alberto and 16 students from the third and fourth years of Padua Franciscan High School will be engaged in an online exchange in order to promote the Italian language in Ohio, to improve skills in English for Italian students and to discuss some current issues of international relevance, included in the work plan developed by the teachers. It is hoped that this exchange project initiated as a “pen pal” may lead in the next school year to an in-person meeting.
