You are not eligible for Italian citizenship. By becoming a citizen of the United States (or a citizen of a foreign country) before August 16, 1992, your ancestor automatically lost his/her Italian citizenship and the ability to transmit it to his/her descendants. Applicants interested in becoming Italian citizens by naturalization, after a period of residence in Italy, can review the information on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website (under point 9).
