Translation and legalisation of documents

For the legalization of Italian to English and English to Italian translations, applicants must present the original document, authenticated with an apostille, and the complete and accurate translation. For the translation, applicants can hire one of our recommended translators.

The Consular legalization service can be requested by sending by mail the documents and a cover letter to the address below:

  • Consulate of Italy in Detroit
    400 Renaissance Center – Suite 950,
    Detroit, MI 48243
    Attn.: LEGAL OFFICE

In the envelope, please include the original documents, the translation, a self-addressed, prepaid envelope for the restitution of the legalized documents, and a money order made out to the “Consulate of Italy in Detroit”. To inquire about the amount to be paid by money order, please get in touch with the Legal Office by email at legale.detroit@esteri.it.
