In promoting the Cultural Heritage of Italy, the Jewish Community Center of Detroit will be screening, on Wednesday May 18th, the film “My Italian Secret: The Forgotten Heroes” by Oren Jacoby. This documentary presents the rather unknown story of famous cyclist Gino Bartali, and how he was able to succeed in saving Italian Jews, partisans and refugees during the period that the Nazis occupied Italy. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director.
