Two exhibits that together inspire the viewer to reflect upon Italy’s artistic vision.
Next Stop: Italy is a project of the Embassy of Italy created during 2013 year of Italian Culture in the United States. Images taken by 12 Italian photographers are accompanied by a verse of poetry by celebrated Italian poets. The exhibit initially appeared on buses and metro cars in Washington D.C., to stimulate those on their daily travels to also take an exciting journey to Italy through art. The Library of Congress has added the photographs to their collections.
By Way of: Cleveland is a companion to and was inspired by the artistry and message of Next Stop: Italy. Created especially for WRHS, the exhibit features local Italian American artists Marcello Mellino and Giancarlo Calicchia. Mellino’s timeless photographic perspectives and Calicchia’s contemporary sculptures relate a tradition of Italian art molded through a vision acquired from experiences in a new country.
