Enrollment into italian universities

Enrollment into italian universities

American students wishing to apply to Italian degree programs (Laurea and Laurea Magistrale), or one semester/one year programs (Corsi Singoli) can do so by first presenting a pre-enrollment application to the Consulate of Italy that has jurisdiction over the state in which the applicant resides.

All applications must be presented by the deadlines determined by the Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR - Calendar)

Pre-enrollment procedures are completed prior to securing enrollment into a University program.

 Laurea and Laurea Magistrale:
A Laurea is a three year program;
A Laurea magistrale is divided into two catagories:
Laurea magistrale a ciclo unico is a five year program;
Laurea magistrale non a ciclo unico is a two year program that follows a laurea program.

 Foreign students wishing to apply to an Italian university must have a High School Diploma as well as meet at least one of the following requirements:

• taken three U.S. Advanced Placement tests (APs), one of which must be in Italian, in three different subjects but relevant to the chosen course of study at the University, and received a passing grade in each (score ranging from 3 to 5);
• have completed one academic year of “College” with certification of acceptance into the second year, and taken four Advanced Placement tests (AP) in subjects that are relevant to the chosen course of study at the University, having received a passing grade in each (score ranging from 3 to 5);
• have completed two academic years of “College” with certification of acceptance into the third year.

**An "AP" in Italian language will not count in the three "AP" requirement for students who have Italian citizenship or for enrollment in courses taught entirely in English.
